As I sit down to reflect on 2011, I can’t help but blush at the grace of God. For one, the person I am now is a completely different person than the person I was just a few years ago. If there is one pick “wrap-up” or lesson for this year, it would come from the book of Ecclestatics 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
I remember how anxious I was for the future and how making plans was something I spent so much time doing. I would plan so much that I stopped enjoying the present life that God has for me. My time, energy, and thoughts were deeply invested on the future. What I did not realize was that I was missing out on my present victories, triumphs, and lessons.
In life we often plan for a better tomorrow. With tips on how to live a better life and quirky blackberries to keep us ogranized with our busy lives, we often forget to live in the now. The bible tells us in Philippians 4:6
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
It seems like an easy thing to do, given that we are Christians, prayer should be enough right? Yet the reality is, we often go to God in prayer with a back up plan in hand “just in case”. In case what? God will always answer our prayers, it just may not be at the time we want. God orchestrates things at the perfect time. Not the time we want, but the time we need.
As I look ahead to 2012, I am prayerfully hopeful for what God has in store for my future. BUT, one thing I know is that focusing on who I am now, and leaving the future to God is the best route for us all.
Happy New Year!!!
Blessings,
Msyenckopowa!
